Ciao! We are Shawna and Adam Baruh and we specialize in creating emotional, documentary wedding photography. We’re based in beautiful San Diego, California but we’re not limited to Southern California. We’ve photographed weddings throughout the United States and abroad. Our mission is to capture your wedding day in an unobtrusive, documentary style. More importantly, we’re pretty rad to be around so it won’t take long before you and your soon-to-be spouse will be laughing with us as we work with you on your wedding day.

Not long after we started seeing each other, Adam left to go to Spain and Italy for two weeks. He had booked himself a couple of fancy hotel rooms throughout the trip and it was the first time Shawna realized this partnership could get interesting. If she had planned the trip, we’d be staying at $5 dollar hostels and strapping on a backpack instead of lugging around a suitcase.
Despite our differing preferences in how we traveled, we realized traveling isn’t about where you stay or what you pack, it’s about the experience of being outside of your element that makes it so incredible.
It’s clear we were meant for each other!
While in New York to shoot a wedding, Adam hatched the idea to propose to Shawna. He bought a ring and planned to pop the question on our last night in New York. We got dressed up to see a Broadway show and hailed a taxi to the theatre. Realizing that walking to the theater would be faster than the taxi ride, we paid the driver, got out of the taxi, and started running for the theater. It was raining out and Shawna was holding the umbrella as Adam would pick her up and lift her over every puddle. Walking into the play Shawna said to Adam, “this is the best night of my life!.” Adam hadn’t even popped the question yet. At dinner after the show, Adam got down on his knee, took the ring out, and asked Shawna to marry him. She was gob smacked, and eventually said yes!
Given our love for travel, we decided to get married in Italy, sharing our love for adventure with our family and close friends. As it turns out, we found the perfect location: The Castle of Poppi (built in 1192). We were married there on October 10th, 2012 and were surrounded by 35 of our family and friends. The only word that comes close to describing our wedding is “magical”.
We’ve already gotten in the groove of taking regular adventures to set the tone for the rest of our lives together. If you stalk us Facebook or keep up with our blogs, you’ll see our endless hiking and backpacking outings and frequent surf sessions with Adam’s kids. Even Shawna’s dog Kai gets in on the action every once in a while! Our daily adventures to the ocean near our Ocean Beach home leave plenty of sandy remnants around the house to remind us this world is meant to be explored!
