Shawna and I had quite the month on the road shooting destination weddings, and it all started with Chris and Kristen’s wedding in Lenexa, Kansas at the end of April. Kristen is one of our dear friends, in fact she and Shawna moved to San Diego around the same time in 2011 from Cape Cod where they worked together.
We knew something was special was happening with Kristen when she started telling us about Chris, who at the time they started dating was living and working in Bermuda. They had dated in the past and remained good friends since that then. But it wasn’t until just last year when they rekindled their relationship. I imagine maintaining a relationship between San Diego and Bermuda is not easy, but their bond was incredibly strong and everyone around Kristen could see how happy she was.
Getting to be a part of capturing a dear friend’s wedding is something that is hard to describe. When Shawna and I showed up to the rehearsal the night before the wedding, Kristen and Chris had already scouted out some great locations for portraits. The cherry blossoms were blooming and the weather was perfect. One of the locations they described as “The Jackpot” and they weren’t wrong in their assessment. Looking at their photos, take a guess for which ones were taken at “The Jackpot”.
